What you can and cannot rely on

The calculator gives you a well sourced estimate, not a promise. It does not know your guests. If eight of the twelve children turn out to hate pizza, the arithmetic was still right and you will still be short of dinner. Use it as a starting point and then apply what you know about the people actually coming.

What this site is

A free planning tool and a set of pages that answer specific questions about party quantities. Every quantity is either taken from a published figure, which is named and linked, or it is our own rule of thumb, which is labelled as ours so you know which numbers are worth arguing with. Telling those two apart is the point of the site.

Allergies, diets and anything that can actually hurt someone

The calculator counts portions. It knows nothing about allergies, intolerances, choking hazards, religious or ethical diets, or what a particular child can safely eat. None of that is something a quantity can tell you, and none of it is something we can check on your behalf. Ask the parents, read the labels, and make those decisions yourself.

Where the numbers come from

We cite published figures from bakers, caterers, trade bodies and manufacturers, and we link to them so you can check that we read them correctly. Those publishers have no involvement in this site and have not endorsed it. We summarise and link rather than reproduce their material. If a source changes its figures, ours will follow, and the date we last checked is printed next to every citation.

What you may do with what is here

Use any number on this site for your own party, freely, with no attribution needed. It is arithmetic about pizza, not a trade secret.
Link to any page here, including a calculator result you have configured. That is what the web address is for.
Quote a sentence or two with a link back, the way you would quote anything else.
Please do not republish whole pages, scrape the site to rebuild it elsewhere, or feed it to a service that reproduces it as its own. The wording, the layout and the code are ours.

Two things that do not exist yet

Printable themes. Nothing is on sale on this site today. When the shop opens, what you may and may not do with a purchased file will be set out in its own licence, and payment, delivery and refunds will be handled by a named payment provider under their terms as well as ours.

Affiliate links. There are none on this site today. When there are, they will appear only beside things you buy once and throw away, such as plates, napkins and goodie bags, and they will never change a quantity. The quantity comes from the sources listed on the page, and no commission can move it. Buying through a link costs you no more than not doing so. Availability

This is a small site run by one person. It may be offline, half finished, or in the middle of being changed when you arrive. Please do not build anything that depends on it being up.

Our liability, in plain words

We provide this site as it is, with no warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for what happens if a number here turns out to be wrong for your party. That covers running short, buying too much, spending more than you meant to, and anything a guest eats or drinks. You are the one deciding what to buy, and you are the one who knows the guests. Where the law does not allow a disclaimer this broad, the narrowest version the law does allow is the one that applies.

Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

The date at the top is the date the wording last changed. New parts of the site get their terms written before they open, not afterwards.
